Obituary

Alma Perlenia Stanley Wooten age 91 of Independence, Virginia passed away Monday, November 11, 2019 in the Grayson Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Wooten was born in Fries, Virginia on August 13, 1928 to Wesley Cole and Alice Viola Taylor Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Carl Wooten, two sisters Annie Jones and Ruby Barber and an infant brother.

She is survived by a daughter and son -in-law Betty and Michael Butler of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law David and Debora Wooten of Independence, Virginia; Rex and Sherry Wooten of Waxhaw, North Carolina; three grandsons Jamie and Katrina Butler; Justin Wooten and Derrick Wooten; four great-grandchildren Brinley Butler; Cohen Butler; Emma Rose and Christian Cleveland; sister Loella Mathena of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Minister Derrick Cowan and Eddie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 PM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Liberty Hill Cemetery Fund, C/O Harold Williams, 3181 Liberty Hill Road, Fries, Virginia 24330.
