Alma Frances Goad Newman age 80 of Woodlawn, Va. passed away Monday December 11, 2006 at her home. She was born in Carroll County, Va. on October 24, 1926 to the late Phillip and Betty Leftwich Goad.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Wade Andrew Newman and a son-in-law Donnie Spears. She is survived by her husband Nevia Andrew Newman of Woodlawn, Va.; daughters & sons-in-law, Dina Jackson & Allen Pinnix; Jessie & Elwood Harmon all of Galax, Va.; Barbara Spears of Ennice, N.C.; Betty Jane Richardson & Freddie Fender of Austinville, Va.; Kay & Melvin Overstreet of Hillsville, Va.; sister Ida Mae Mazzeo of Dothan, Alabama; brother Carl Goad of Galax, Va.; half-sister Lila Hall of Northern Va.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Wednesday December 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM in Monta Vista Cemetery with Rev. Garry Adams officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
