Alma "Jean" Goad Sharp age 89 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 in the Senior Homeshare in Galax, Virginia.

Mrs. Sharp was born in the Fancy Gap Community of Carroll County, Virginia on November 23, 1931 to Benjamin Harrison and Nettie Dickens Goad. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Marler D. Sharp and siblings Estel Asa Goad, Essie Goad Elledge, John Lee Goad, Elmer Berlie Goad, Olene Goad Horton and Audrey Mae Goad.

Mrs. Sharp retired from Horton's Produce of Fancy Gap after many years of employment there. She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by special nieces and their spouse Dianne G. and Timothy Calwell; Teresa L. and Sylvan White, Jr.; Hannah S. White and Adam Wilson; Hailey M. and Daniel Crawford; and Wilma Goodlet;  step-children and their spouses  George W. and Jill Sharp;  Marlene S. and James Austin; sister-in-law Betty Beamer Goad; several other nieces and nephews; and  several step-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor David Bays officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Family and friends will gather at her home 901 Commonwealth Road, Galax, Virginia. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Dr. Jessie Dickens Cemetery Fund, 912 Horton Road, Fancy Gap, Virginia 24328.
