Allene E. Burcham age 89 of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, November 3, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Burcham was born on February 24, 1919 in Carroll County, Va. to William & Matilda Edwards. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Garnie Burcham, Sr.. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law Jama & Scott Hash; Patsy & Bobby Phipps; Peggy & Earnest Calfee; Arlowene & Mitchell Alderman; Teresa & Hardy Sizemore; son & daughter-in-law Garnie Burcham, Jr. & Sue Patton; brothers Kenneth Edwards & John Edwards all of Galax, Va.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Oakland United Methodist Church with Rev. John Ousley & Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
