Alice Joan Fling Watson age 74 of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in the Smyth County Community Hospital.

Mrs. Watson was born in Charleston, West Virginia on January 23, 1941 to Earl and Florence Harnest Fling.

She is survived by her husband Curtis Watson of Fries, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Mandi and Tim Pickett of Rural Retreat, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Steve and Delorse Watson of Galax, Virginia; Rev. Rick and Janet Watson of Fries, Virginia; five grandchildren Shannon Hawks; Will Pickett; Dillon Watson; Wyatte Pickett; Devin Watson; six great-grandchildren Grace Hawks; Cadence Watson; Teagan Pickett; Henley Pickett; Harper Pickett; Oliver Watson; brother and sister-in-law John and Judy Fling of Charleston, West Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Fries Church of God of Prophecy with Pastor Steve Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in the Cold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from six until eight at the Fries Church of God of Prophecy.
