Alice Mae Jones Funk age 56 of Abingdon, Virginia passed away Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia following a long courageous battle against ovarian cancer.

Alice was born in Galax, Virginia on March 4, 1958 to Curtis M. and Jo Ann Johnson Jones.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents S.T. (Buck) and Myrtle Johnson and Lonnie C. and Essie Jones and her adopted sister Judy Jones Messenger.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years Brian L. Funk of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law Joshua C. & Stacey Funk of Chesterfield, Virginia; William Benjamin Funk of Pikeville, Kentucky; the loves of her life, two precious granddaughters Kendall and Kyleigh Funk; mother and special uncle Jo Ann and George Jones of Fries, Virginia; father and wife Curtis and Geraldine Jones of Galax, Virginia; a very special "sister" Beverly Leonard; brothers-in-law and wife Harold Dean and Susie Funk of Fries, Virginia; Douglas Osborne of Galax, Virginia; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

The funeral service will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 4:00 PM in the Grace Baptist Church, Fries, Virginia with the Rev. Barry Newman and the Rev. Donald Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Grace Baptist Church.
