Alexander Burton Winesett, 91, of Savannah, GA, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, under the care of Hospice Savannah Inc, surrounded by his family and beloved dog, Coby. He was born in Galax, VA, on Sept. 9, 1922. He served in World War 11 and fought in the battle of the Bulge as part of Patton's 3rd Army where he received a Bronze Star for valor.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Elaine Winesett, parents, Louis & Bessie Winesett, sister, Mattie Lee Atkins, brothers, Junior, Bill, Ralph & Rex Winesett.
Surviving are his sons, Larry (Martha) Winesett of Savannah, Rickey (Penny) Winesett, Richmond Hills, GA; sisters, Pauline Davis, Iva Dell (Roy) Moser, Betty Ruth (CE) Frost, Brother & sister-in-law, Roger & Barbara Winesett, sisters-in-law, Irene Winesett & Mozelle Winesett, all of Galax, VA. Several Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews, also, survive.
Funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, Savannah, GA. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
