Agnes Frost Newman, age 89, passed away on June 27, 2010. She was a lifelong resident of the River Hill Community in Carroll County and lifelong member of the Church of Christ at Gambetta before moving to Massie Haven Assisted Living facility in Stuart's Draft Virginia in 2008.

Mrs. Newman was born on February 17, 1921 in Carroll County, Virginia to John S. and Ida M. Carrico Frost. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Howard John Newman; brothers Paul Frost, Rufus Frost, Harry Frost, Herbert Frost, Howard Frost, Bobby Frost and sister, Lydia Lineberry.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, Allen and Debbie Newman of Damascus Virginia and Billy and Linda Newman of Shipman Virginia. She has two grandchildren, Kasey Newman and Dennis Newman. She is also survived by sisters, Katheryn Lawson, and Betty Jane Roberts and brothers, John M. Frost and Wayne Frost all of Galax.

The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm on July 5th at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. The funeral will follow visitation in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elmer Williams and Lawrence Warden officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
