Obituary

Agnes Helen McKnight Bartlett age 98 of Fries, Virginia passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Bartlett was born January 5, 1913 in Grayson County, Virginia to Andy and Mittie Hale McKnight. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years Albert Gladstone Bartlett; son A.G. Bartlett, Jr.; sisters Myrtle Moore and Mae Wolford; brothers Troy McKnight; Tom McKnight and James McKnight.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Nancy Watson; Carolyn and Don Lyons all of Fries, Virginia; sister Gladys M. Catron of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses E.R. & Janice Watson; Vickie Hash; Sherry Watson; Mike & Kitty Watson; Jeanie & Terry Brooks; great-grandchildren and spouse Jenny Watson; Roger Watson III and Kristy ; Kody Hash; Ty Hash; A. G. Watson and Merritt Brooks; great-great-grandson Eli Watson; sister-in-law Ilene McKnight of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends and helpers.

She was a member of the Fries Garden Club; Grayson Home Extension Club; a member of the Women of the Farm Bureau; a member of the Fries High School Wildcat Sports Hall of Fame and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an outreach worker for the Rooftop of Virginia.

She was a long time dedicated member of the Stevens Creek United Methodist Church where the service will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Tim Smith; Rev. Sam Holder; Rev. Ken Blevins and Rev. Lee Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Stevens Creek United Methodist Church and friends may also call anytime at the home on 225 Blowing Breeze Lane. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Stevens Creek United Methodist Church; Fries Volunteer Fire Department or Rescue Squad or the Galax -Grayson Ambulance Service.
